Context
A global technology organisation needed to evolve the internal platform its teams used to create registration websites and manage guests for a wide range of events. During a four-month engagement, the work combined configurable website-building components, responsive media controls, consent-aware guest operations and an evaluation of the team’s design and delivery process.
The objective was to increase flexibility for event creators while maintaining predictable behaviour, responsive consistency and appropriate safeguards for sensitive guest information.
The challenge
One internal platform had to support teams creating many kinds of events, each with different content, audience and operational needs. Creators required enough flexibility to produce distinctive registration experiences, but unrestricted layouts could create inconsistent behaviour and leave key interactions open to interpretation during development. Guest operations added a second layer of complexity: list changes, data exchange and consent states needed to remain clear and trustworthy. The delivery team also needed a shared view of risks affecting component consistency, feedback, capacity, decision ownership and cross-functional collaboration.
Approach
The work treated event authoring and guest management as parts of one connected platform. Each website-builder feature was designed across both configuration and visitor-facing states. Anchored layouts covered section management, navigation, scrolling, spacing and breakpoint rules. Reusable content cards covered creation, management, preview, empty states and flexible grid arrangements. A media editor introduced clearer aspect-ratio, resize, rotation and breakpoint controls, including a circular-image treatment.
Guest-list workflows connected invitation, removal, opt-out, spreadsheet exchange and marketing-consent status, supported by confirmations and explicit data-handling states. Detailed anatomy, interaction rules and responsive specifications translated the intended behaviour into material suitable for engineering review. Alongside the product work, interviews across product, design and development were synthesised into a structured assessment of the existing process, product architecture and delivery risks, with proposed remedies and practical starting points.
Solution
The proposed improvements created a more configurable but governed event-authoring toolkit. Structured navigation supported longer pages, reusable cards enabled varied content hierarchies and responsive media controls gave creators more precise control over presentation. Guest-management flows made the relationship between list operations, spreadsheet exchange and consent status explicit. A parallel delivery assessment identified opportunities around design-process consistency, component governance, feedback practices, capacity, decision tracking and ownership of the end-to-end experience.
